June 29 - July 20, 2019
(Depart from U.S.A. - Depart from host country)
Why is the French health care system often described as the best in the world? While one might assume that a country that drinks so much wine and enjoys so many pastries might struggle to maintain good health, quite the opposite is true. Discover how the people of France enjoy some of the best health outcomes in the world by taking and in depth look at their health care system, health care initiatives, and lifestyles. Time in the classroom will be complemented with visits to hospitals and clinics, as well as famous cultural sites. Participants will hear from local doctors and public health officials while experiencing the traditional French diet. Talk with native French people and learn how they feel about their health care system, while also taking in the unique history and culture of Paris. There will also be time to reflect on how the French experience compares to the American experience in health care.
This education abroad program is ideal for students interested in all facets of health care. Whether participants plan to become a physician, administrator, or public health practitioner, or just want a better understanding of health care systems as a patient, this course will help all participants understand the experience of health care in global comparison.
