Program Overview

Meiji Gakuin University (MGU) was established in 1863 and has campuses in Tokyo and Yokohama.

The university's International Student Program (ISP) provides opportunities for English-speaking students from its exchange partners to learn about, and personally experience Japan and the Japanese language for a period of one or two semesters.

The ISP consists of:

1) A mandatory Intensive Japanese Language course divided into 5 levels
2) A selection of elective courses and seminars offered in English by various MGU faculties (colleges) with a focus on Japanese social and cultural issues.

There is no Japanese language prerequisite for this exchange program.

You can take classes at both campuses but you must allow for a 90 minute travel time between the two locations.

Take a 90 second video tour of the MGU campus.
