UK Exchange: HUMAK University of Applied Science

Jyvaskyla, Finland

Program Overview

Humak University of Applied Sciences is arguably Finland's leading educator in the humanities and cultural management. Their degree program in Cultural Management trains professionals for careers in cultural event and organization management, private enterprises, cultural and art projects, as well as municipal and state cultural administration.

Courses are offered in English in the field of arts and cultural administration, marketing, communication and Finnish language, media and culture.

Cultural Management courses are taught at HUMAK's Jyvaskyla campus located in the lake district of central Finland. The campus is located in Korpilahti, the southernmost suburb of Jyväskylä on the shore of lake Päijänne. It is about 30 kilometers from Jyväskylä campus to the center of Jyväskylä city.

Eligibility
This program is open to undergraduate in the College of Fine Arts.  
Students must possess a valid passport at the time of application to this program.

Academic Credit

Students will earn transfer credit from HUMAK. For all successfully completed courses, the credit hours, course title and course equivalency will be indicated on the UK transcript. Students must complete the coursework during this program according to the established guidelines by HUMAK. The grades earned will be important to progression in future academic endeavors, including graduate or professional school; however the grades earned will NOT be indicated on the UK transcript.   • PRIOR to participating on this program, students must complete an Academic Approval Form (AAF). The AAF indicates how the course will be used, or course equivalency, once they are transferred back to UK. Instructions on how to complete the AAF are included in application materials.
  • Upon completion of the term abroad, the transcript should be sent to the UK Education Abroad office. Once received, Education Abroad staff will facilitate the transfer of credits to UK.
  • All students will be enrolled in EAP 599: Study Abroad (1 credit hour) at UK during their term abroad.



 

Housing & Meals

HUMAK offers on-campus accommodation in apartments where students share a bedroom with one or two other students.
Private, off-campus accommodation is also available. HUMAK can assist in locating this housing but it is more expensive and it may be difficult to arrange for one semester only.
Students are responsible for all meals during the duration of the term abroad.
