Program Description:

UK Partner: Intern - Summer in Dublin (Arcadia)

Dublin, Ireland

Program Overview

UK Education Abroad offers programs in which students can complete an internship for academic credit in another country. An internship is a professional-level learning experience in the workplace and provides an opportunity to apply learning from the classroom in a real situation. Internships abroad are available in a wide variety of career fields, however certain locations are better for some fields than others. Students embarking on an internship should have a clear idea of what they hope to learn from their experience, yet at the same time must be flexible and open-minded, as internship placement is often not determined until just before or just after arrival on-site. Students are required to earn academic credit for UK Education Abroad internships by enrolling in Arcadia's internship course (DUBI INPR 310).

Students will work at their internship placements for 20 to 24 hours per week. Students will also have an independent research project to connect their placement experience, academic interests and career aspirations.

  • Complete an internship for credit in your area of study or professional interest.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in your chosen field through class and internship experience.
  • Explore local sites or topics of interest.

This program is open to undergraduate students from all academic disciplines, with a minimum GPA of 2.8.

Academic Credit

Students will earn transfer credit from Arcadia University. For all successfully completed courses, the credit hours, course title and course equivalency will be indicated on the UK transcript. Students must complete the coursework during this program according to the established guidelines by Arcadia University. The grades earned will be important to progression in future academic endeavors, including graduate or professional school; however the grades earned will NOT be indicated on the UK transcript. For more information visit the UK Education Abroad Academic Credit website.

  • PRIOR to participating on this program, students must complete an Academic Approval Form (AAF). The AAF indicates how the course will be used, or course equivalency, once they are transferred back to UK. Instructions on how to complete the AAF are included in application materials.
  • Upon completion of the term abroad, the transcript should be sent to the UK Education Abroad office. Once received, Education Abroad staff will facilitate the transfer of credits to UK.
  • All students will be enrolled in EAP 599: Study Abroad (1 credit hour) at UK during their term abroad.
