Program Description:

UK Exchange: Ludwigsburg University of Education

Program Overview

Ludwigsburg University of Education (LUE) is the successor of the Educational Institute of Stuttgart which was founded in 1946. In 1962, the institute was promoted to the university level and in 1966 relocated to its current campus in Ludwigsburg.

The university’s expertise lies primarily in the education of school teachers for Grundschule, Hauptschule, Realschule and Sonderschule (the second part of the study program for prospective special education teachers takes place in Reutlingen at the Faculty of Special Education).

Ludwigsburg University of Education also offers a Master of Science which prepares students for teaching at vocational training schools. Additionally, the university is increasingly involved in cooperative efforts with nearby universities, including programs for secondary education (Gymnasium).

Eligibility
This program is open to graduate students with an interest in German or German Studies.

Students must possess a valid passport at the time of application to this program.

Academic Credit

Students will earn transfer credit from the Exchange University. For all successfully completed courses, the credit hours, course title and course equivalency will be indicated on the UK transcript. Students must complete the coursework during this program according to the established guidelines by the Exchange University. The grades earned will be important to progression in future academic endeavors, including graduate or professional school; however the grades earned will NOT be indicated on the UK transcript.   • PRIOR to participating on this program, students must complete an Academic Approval Form (AAF). The AAF indicates how the course will be used, or course equivalency, once they are transferred back to UK. Instructions on how to complete the AAF are included in application materials.
  • Upon completion of the term abroad, the transcript should be sent to the UK Education Abroad office. Once received, Education Abroad staff will facilitate the transfer of credits to UK.
  • All students will be enrolled in EAP 599: Study Abroad (1 credit hour) at UK during their term abroad.




 

Housing & Meals

Accommodation options are available in the Student Village and private housing. Students are responsible for all meals during the duration of the term abroad.
