Program Overview

Charles Sturt University is a regional university with a network of campuses located throughout New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Exchange students from UK can attend the CSU campuses in BathurstWagga Wagga or Port Macquarie.

Bathurst is approximately 100 miles from Sydney
Wagga Wagga is approximately 100 miles from Canberra
Port Macquarie is approximately 125 miles from Newcastle

CSU was established in 1989 and named in honor of Captain Charles Sturt, a British explorer who led expeditions into New South Wales and South Australia in the first half of the 19th century.

CSU offers small class sizes, a hands-on approach to learning, easy access to teachers, and an opportunity for an authentic Australian "Outback" experience!

CSU Wagga Wagga in 50 seconds.

Charles Sturt University, along with most universities in Australia, follows the academic calendar typical in the southern hemisphere. Session 1 (the equivalent of University of Kentucky's spring semester) is from February through June. Session 2 (the equivalent of University of Kentucky's fall semester) runs from July to October.

Which UK requirements can I fulfill by taking courses at Charles Sturt University?
In the last five years, UK students participating on this exchange program have taken classes that have fulfilled UK requirements in AEC, AEL, A-H, A-S, ASC, BIO, COM, DHN, EDP, ENG, HIS, ISC, JOU, KHP, LIS, MA, MGT, MKT, NRE, PHI, PLS, PSY, and SW

Explore the online CSU subject catalog for more information on their academic offerings.

IMPORTANT! In Australia a 'course' is a major and a 'subject' is a specific class. The online CSU subject catalog will provide you with a list of every subject (class) offered plus individual subject description and syllabi, which campus it is offered at, and in which session.

When choosing your subjects make sure they are all offered in the session (semester) you want to attend CSU and that they are all offered on the same campus. CSU's three campuses are so far apart it's not possible to take classes on more than one.  The subjects must also be offered through 'on campus delivery.' You can't take online/distance subjects.

CSU session 1 (February - June) = UK spring semester
CSU session 2 (July - October) = UK fall semester

Students will earn transfer credit from the Exchange University. For all successfully completed courses, the credit hours, course title and course equivalency will be indicated on the UK transcript. Students must complete the coursework during this program according to the established guidelines by the Exchange University. The grades earned will be important to progression in future academic endeavors, including graduate or professional school; however the grades earned will NOT be indicated on the UK transcript. For more information visit the UK Education Abroad Academic Credit website.

All housing options are located within close proximity to campus. Kitchen and eating areas are available with all three housing options.

With a range of housing available across three separate campuses, it is not possible for the UK program budget to list all options. Please be aware the costs provided for accommodation and meals are estimates only and may differ from your actual cost.
