Program Overview

Kansai Gaidai is a private university enrolling approximately 10,000 students and is located in the city of Hirakata midway between Osaka, Japan's second largest industrial metropolis, and Kyoto and Nara, the ancient capitals of Japan.

KGU's Asian Studies Program welcomes over 600 international students each year from more than 40 countries around the world. The program offers an invaluable opportunity to explore Japan and Asian studies through classroom instruction, field trips, and interaction with Japanese people.

One of the big attractions for UK students is that all courses on the Asian Studies program (with the exception of Japanese language courses) are taught in English.
The Japanese language courses are offered at beginner through advanced levels and previous Japanese language training is not required.

Explore the 2018-19 KGU handbook.

Participants on the KGU exchange pay a program fee comprising UK tuition and fees, accommodation and meal plan costs to UK and receive these benefits at KGU at no extra cost. See 'Program Cost and Budget' (above) for details.
