Program Description:

UK Exchange: University of Caen Scholarship Exchange Program

Caen, France

Program Overview

Two scholarships are awarded each year allowing two UK students to complete a semester-long education abroad experience in the intensive language program at the University of Caen's Diplôme Universitaire d'Etudes Françaises (DUEF) located in the heart of Caen.

One recipient will be selected for the fall term and one for the spring term. Applicants will be asked for their preference during the interview (see Required Applications below).

This scholarship program is facilitated by the Lexington Sister Cities Commission and their sister city counterparts in Deauville, France.

The scholarship provided by the Deauville Sister Cities Association, covers the cost of:

  • tuition and fees at the University of Caen- DUEF
  • accommodation in the Cite Universitaire residence hall (or similar residence hall owned by the university)
Additionally, the scholarship recipients do not pay UK tuition (except for EAP599) for their semester abroad.

Find out more about the University of Caen.

The city of Caen is steeped in history dating back to the reign of William the Conqueror in the 11th century. Local attractions include two beautiful abbeys and a castle completed in the 1060's. Much of the city is relatively new construction though, due to the ravages of war in both the 14th century and during World War II.
