PLEASE NOTE: This budget contains some estimated amounts. The actual cost for some items (i.e. meals, airfare, passport) will change according to each participant’s individual needs. At the time of this posting, fees and deadlines for this term have not yet been determined by the program provider. Thus, information from previous year's term has been used as an estimate.
INFORMATION RELATED TO PROGRAM EXPENSES
PROGRAM FEE: Participants on this program are directly responsible to the partner organization, Arcadia, for any program application fee and program fees. Participants of this program are strongly encouraged to carefully consult the partner organization’s website for detailed cost information, billing information, withdrawal policies, etc. Because each partner determines program costs at different times and in different ways, the “Expenses not billed to your UK student account” are estimates..
Cancellation Policy: Participants must adhere to the payment schedules and cancellation policies as established by the partner organization, Arcadia.APPLICATION FEE: All UK participants on this program are assessed a non-refundable $50 Education Abroad at UK Application Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student account at the end of the month in which the application was created. Applications submitted in error must be withdrawn (by you) before the end of the month in which the application was created in order to avoid the application fee.
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable.
ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: All UK participants on this program are assessed a $100 Education Abroad at UK Administrative Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student billing account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc).
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable for participants who withdraw from the program abroad after the last day to withdraw from a UK course during the academic term (UK Academic Calendar). Withdrawals prior to this date will receive a full refund of the Administrative Fee.
EAP 599: STUDY ABROAD COURSE: All UK undergraduate participants on this program will be enrolled in EAP 599: Study Abroad. This pass/fail course keeps students classified as full-time and thus allows a student to utilize federal financial aid and most institutional aid for his/her education abroad program. Additionally, this required course serves to provide each student with the necessary information, preparation, and support to successfully navigate the Education Abroad process. This course delivers charges one credit hour of tuition at the student's normal rate (in-state or out-of-state). The EAP 599 tuition will be charged to the participant’s UK student account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc). UK graduate and professional students may elect not to be enrolled in EAP 599 and must contact the Education Abroad at UK office to decline enrollment in EAP 599.
Cancellation Policy: Participants who withdraw from the program abroad prior to the first day of the UK academic term (UK Academic Calendar) will not be responsible for the tuition associated with EAP 599. Participants who withdraw from the program abroad on or after the first day of the UK academic term will be responsible for a portion of the Administrative Fee in accordance with the Tuition and Fee Liability policy as established by the University of Kentucky.
TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE: All participants on this program will be enrolled in travel medical insurance, political security and natural disaster evacuation services, for the duration of the program via the University of Kentucky. The cost is $10.50 per week (7 days) and will be billed to the participant’s UK student account 1-3 months prior to the program start date. Coverage can only be purchased in week increments. Please see the EA Travel Medical Insurance website for more information. Participants who carry personal insurance policies that meet the minimum standards of international medical insurance coverage as established by UK may request a waiver of the mandatory coverage by completing the Travel Medical Insurance Verification Form.
Cancellation Policy: Education Abroad at UK will cancel future coverage and issue a refund for unused coverage to participants who withdraw from the program abroad. The cancellation of travel medical insurance will be determined by Arcadia.
PASSPORT & VISA: Participants must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of return to the U.S. The Wildcat Passport Acceptance Facility accepts U.S. Passport applications.
