UK Education Abroad & ISA Diversity Scholarship (Scholarship Program)

UK Education Abroad encourages all qualified UK students participating in an approved education abroad program offered by International Studies Abroad (ISA) to apply for the UK Education Abroad Diversity Scholarship. ISA is a UK Partner that offer high quality education abroad opportunities to undergraduate UK students in a variety of countries across the globe. The student who receives the ISA scholarship will have two calendar years to apply it to an ISA education abroad program.
Scholarships are available to students that contribute to the university’s compelling interest in the educational benefit of diversity within the UK student body. This includes but is not limited to race or ethnic origin, sex, color, religion, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, gendeone provided by ISA.
The scholarship voucher cannot be used during the recipient’s final semester at UK. Recipients shall be selected based on individualized assessment of each applicant by the UK Education Abroad Diversity Scholarship Committee. In addition to the general application and required essay, factors considered include demonstrated academic success and financial need. Awards are made one time only and are not negotiable.

The scholarship is awarded in varying amounts from $2,500- $5,000. Student's are not guaranteed to be awarded.

In order to be considered for a UK Education Abroad Scholarship, students must complete the following by the scholarship deadline:
Notification of scholarship decision will be by email.The award is deducted from the ISA program fee. It is not awarded in form of cash or check and will not be placed on your student account.
Recipients will be required to meet with an Education Abroad Advisor to discuss the terms of the award and program selection process. Awards will be made by ISA as a credit to the education abroad program fee (within two years of the award date), with any excess amount being remitted to the student directly. The award may be revoked if the student withdraws from the program, does not participate in the program or the program is cancelled. The award may be used for a different ISA program as long as study occurs within two calendar years of the original award date. Awards are non-renewable and non-transferrable.
WHAT AM I EXPECTED TO DO IN RETURN?
During the semester immediately after returning from abroad, recipients of the UK Education Abroad Diversity Scholarship's ISA voucher are expected to contact the ISA Kentucky Office and participate in at least one approved outreach activity in which the student shares his/her experience with potential future education abroad participants. While the required outreach activity may take many forms, each must be approved by ISA Kentucky Office.
Additionally, each recipient shall agree to submit a 1-page statement about the experience abroad to UK Education Abroad, including how it has affected the student personally, professionally, and academically, and how the scholarship supported the recipient’s endeavors. Once submitted the statement becomes property of UK Education Abroad and excerpts may be used in any/all UK Education Abroad electronic and print publications. Alternatively, a video diary produced in conjunction with UK Education Abroad is acceptable.
This scholarship offers two award cycles and is not tied to a specific term. Deadlines to apply are April 1st and October 1st.
