Items listed above with no asterisk (i.e. airfare, passport, meals, etc.) are estimated expenses. The actual cost for any estimated expenses will change according to each participant’s individual needs.
INFORMATION RELATED TO PROGRAM EXPENSES
UK FACULTY-DIRECTED PROGRAM FEE: The UK Faculty-Directed Program Fee listed above is based on a minimum of 12 participants. If the minimum number of participants is exceeded, the final UK Faculty-Directed Program Fee may be lower than originally advertised. If the total UK Faculty-Directed Program Fee is less than $500, that lesser amount will be charged on the deposit date listed below, and there will be no remaining UK Faculty-Directed Program Fee. Non-credit participants (if any) will be assessed the UK Faculty-Directed Program Fee via invoice.
*Non-recoverable expenses include anything that the University of Kentucky Education Abroad office, the Program Director, or an affiliated partner organization has paid on behalf of a participant which is unable to be recovered/refunded on behalf of the participant.
APPLICATION FEE: All UK participants on this program will be assessed a non-refundable $50 UK Education Abroad Application Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student billing account at the end of the month in which the application was created. Applications submitted in error must be withdrawn (by the participant) before the end of the month in which the application was created in order to avoid the application fee. Non-credit participants (if any) will be assessed the Application Fee via invoice.
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable.
EMBEDDED FEE: All UK participants on this program will be assessed a $200 UK Education Abroad Embedded Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student billing account during the term in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer, Spring, etc). Non-credit participants (if any) will be assessed the Embedded Fee via invoice.
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable for participants who withdraw from the program abroad after the last day to withdraw from a UK course during the academic term (UK Academic Calendar). Withdrawals prior to this date will receive a full refund of the Administrative Fee.
TRAVEL MEDICAL + EVACUATION INSURANCE: All participants on this program will receive travel medical and evacuation insurance coverage. The cost of this insurance is included within the program fee listed above for all UK Faculty-Directed programs.
PASSPORT & VISA: Participants must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of return to the U.S. The Wildcat Passport Acceptance Facility, in the UK Student Center, accepts U.S. Passport applications. For more information about U.S. Passport applications please visit the U.S. Department of State website. It is the responsibility of all participants to determine if a visa is needed for entry into the destination country. Non-U.S passport holders must pay special attention to the regulations and visa requirements for both the education abroad destination country as well as the U.S. visa requirements in order to return to the U.S.
